Key developments for Arrayit Corporation (ARYC)
Arrayit Corporation announced the sale of a system to the Center of Excellence for Nucleic Acid-Based Technologies (CENAT) in Poznan, Poland. The Arrayit NanoPrint Microarrayer will be used by CENAT for scientific and medical collaborations throughout the prosperous democracy. The Arrayit microarray manufacturing platform will help accelerate on-going myeloid leukemia cancer analysis at CENAT. Arrayit's system offers us the ability to make high quality microarrays of all types that will greatly enhance cancer research by enabling quantitative DNA, RNA and protein analysis. Versatile NanoPrint microarrayers have also been installed at other major research and diagnostics centers including Harvard University in Massachusetts, Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico, Scripps Research Institute in Florida, The Biodesign Institute in Arizona, and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.
Arrayit Corporation announced that the US Department of Agriculture in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, purchased Arrayit's proprietary technology to assist the USDA in fighting off honeybee extinction and the catastrophic loss of America's crop plants. The USDA is deploying Arrayit's proprietary SpotLight microarray scanning technology and high-speed BioBlue computers to identify biomarkers in the honeybee genome that confer resistance to varroa and tracheal mites, the parasites that threaten the worldwide honeybee population. Honeybee numbers have recently dwindled by 60-70% in some regions of the United States, and honeybees pollinate an estimated $14 billion worth of American crop plants including many essential fruits, seeds and vegetables.
Arrayit Corporation announced a collaboration with the European Space Agency. The European Space Agency's ExoMars Mission Aurora Program is using Arrayit Technology to create the Life Marker Chip to search for evidence of past and present life on Mars. The technology will examine Martian soil samples from the surface and up to 2 meters below the surface where organic molecules may be better preserved. The LMC is an antibody microarray based instrument which aims to detect a number of specific targets which may be present in the sample, and is the only instrument which can specifically identify large organic molecules. The microarray is printed on to thin film optical waveguides by the Arrayit SpotBot(R) microarray printer. Arrayit was determined to be the only viable alternative after a study of all microarray manufacturing equipment. The ExoMars mission is currently planned for launch in 2011 and landing in 2013.
