Arcadis NV reported consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months of 2009. For the quarter, the company reported EBITA of €29.8 million, operating income of €26.5 million, profit before taxes of €23.2 million and profit attributable to equity holders of €13.9 million or €0.21 per share on net revenues of €318.0 million against EBITA of €30.3 million, operating income of €27.7 million, profit before taxes of €18.2 million and profit attributable to equity holders of €11.4 million or €0.19 per share on net revenues of €283.8 million for the same period a year ago. The company reported net income from operations of €18.2 million or €0.28 per share against net income from operations of €16.3 million or €0.27 per share for the same period a year ago. For the nine months, the company reported EBITA of €86.1 million, operating income of €80.8 million, profit before taxes of €81.3 million and profit attributable to equity holders of €50.7 million or €0.82 per share on net revenues of €895.2 million against EBITA of €87.2 million, operating income of €79.0 million, profit before taxes of €64.2 million and profit attributable to equity holders of €40.0 million or €0.66 per share on net revenues of €849.6 million for the same period a year ago. The company reported net income from operations of €50.8 million or €0.80 per share against net income from operations of €47.8 million or €0.79 per share for the same period a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was €61.7 million against net cash from operating activities of €16.8 million for the same period a year ago. For the full year of 2009 there is no contribution from the sale of energy projects, which last year generated €2.2 million in net income in the fourth quarter. Because of the favorable results in the third quarter, the outlook for full year 2009 has been adjusted upwards: from a slight decline to a slight increase of 0-5% of net income from operations.

Arcadis NV announced that the U.S. Air Force selected the company as a prime contractor on the $3 billion Worldwide Environmental Restoration and Construction 2009 program. The program is a five-year contract under which participants will provide environmental-remediation and site-cleanup services at Defense Department sites, mostly Air Force bases, worldwide.

Arcadis NV announced the nomination of Steven B Blake for appointment to its executive board and Armando R Perez for appointment to its supervisory board. Blake is currently the CEO of ARCADIS US Inc. He will combine his current role with his new position on the Executive Board and will also assume responsibility for the environmental business line of ARCADIS. Perez was an external member of the board of directors of Malcolm Pirnie until that company merged with Arcadis in July 2009. He has spent most of his professional career with Exxon and ExxonMobil in a number of senior managerial roles at the local, regional and global levels and has extensive international accomplishments.
