Key developments for Viatel Holding (Bermuda) Ltd. (VIAHF)
Viatel Holding (Bermuda) Ltd. announced the launch of its SIP trunking service, a new VoIP service allowing resellers to offer a more cost effective access method to the public switched telephone network by using a company's data connection, rather than ISDN. The new service also eliminates the need for end-users to purchase an IP gateway, reducing the overall cost of implementing VoIP by thousands of pounds. The service is currently aimed at Mitel resellers, which make up 24% of the IP PBX market, with support for other PBX vendors to be added in the future. The new service from Viatel is fully managed and offers resellers peace of mind by processing all calls via a Nortel CS2K soft switch. The service runs over an unshared connection such as SDSL or Ethernet, in order to ensure that customers gain high quality business voice calls indistinguishable from traditional voice calls.
Frontier has won a contract with partners Viatel and Phase Telecom to supply a comprehensive network solution for a UK security services company. Under the terms of the contract, Frontier partner Phase Telecom will supply the customer with an MPLS fibre network provided by Viatel, which will link the customer's 12 sites across the UK. The MPLS cloud will allow Internet breakout for broadband access and provides a voice and data network solution for the customer. In addition, Phase Telecom will be supplying hardware from the Avaya IP Office range for customer sites that require it. The value of the contract is estimated at £1.1 million over five years.
Viatel Holding (Bermuda) Ltd. has announced that it has filed a Form 15 with the Securities and Exchange Commission to voluntarily deregister its common stock under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended.
